Sunshine everywhere – but especially for the team of Ferrari: Thanks to Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who does a very good job in the qualifying, Ferrari reaches its fourth pole-position in the sixth race of the saison! Next to him Alex Zanardi, so it is the third qualifying in succession that a Jordan-driver does the second starting-place. So far, so good: Jordan is still the only team who has not only one pole-position in the running season! Best qualifying-time: Alex Zanardi (Jordan) in 1.09:60 (it’s no use…).
A sunny day in Germany! The first lap belongs to a very aggressively driver namend Alex Zanardi (Jordan). He stays in front until the first third of the second lap – and then he silently slips out… From now on, nobody can stop the brave-fighting pilots of Ferrari and Tyrrell. At the end Heidfeld and Verstappen (both Tyrrell) meet their match in Hill and Frentzen (both Ferrari). Damon Hill, who does one of his best races ever, wins his second Grand Prix of the season. Heinz-Harald Frentzen can overtake Nik Heidfeld near the finishing-line in a very curious way (Frentzen is driving at the fourth, Heifeld at the same time in the fifth gear!). So the first double-victory for Ferrari takes place! Tyrrell reaches third and fourth place, Williams does also its very best and earns fifth and sixth place. Once more, Jordan is completely out of order: Three accidents and not even one car can finish the third lap! Stay calm, hornet-guys – better get off of all those horrors and find an easier way of living...
