A rainy day in Germany – bad weather-conditions or not, third race in a row a yellow-hornet reaches pole-position. Toranosuke Takagi does the best qualifying ever seen – best time (1.10:43), no faults, least stops of all – the other drivers look like fools. Alex Zanardi (Jordan) stands on second position, but in a very far distance (4 points) behind Takagi!
Crazy weather above Hockenheim! Dark clouded at first third, heavy raindrops at second and sunshine all around at last third of the race. It wasn’t that easy, guys!
Today Alex Zanardi is a really sad hero: being on leading-position for second and third lap, he slips out three curves to last – so the race ends only on 5th place for him! Bad luck this time. Once more Ferrari does a great job – after an all but famous qualifying, Heinz-Harald Frentzen wins the race, Damon Hill reaches 2nd and Mika Salo 4th place. Williams sends a little sign of life: Eddie Irvine comes in on 3rd place and earns applause preventing a Ferrari-triple-victory. The heavy crisis of Tyrrell continues – there’s only one championship-point left for Rubens Barrichello, hero of the first half of the saison.
